Using a threaded coupling helps to prevent any loose ends in a drill pipe connection. This is to ensure enough power can flow through the setup which is crucial during a drilling process. A threaded coupling can easily be attached to a drill pipe through a welding process or simply screwing it in directly onto the pipe depending on each individual pipe system requirements. Having a threaded coupling successfully attached to the drill pipe means that the setup can be tightened multiple times without the pipe losing strength which may cause it to bend or break.
